Sue Britton

Born a prairie girl, raised on a farm, I've always been inspired by seasons, colours, and diversity of nature. It provides so many raw materials to be used and enjoyed. Raised and educated in Manitoba, my lifetime partner Brian and I moved to Calgary in 1971 where we raised our family and had a long successful career in Real Estate. Crafting has always been a part of my life. I love to try new mediums and can't seem to settle on one. With the benefit of my husband's carpentry skills, we love to work together on various projects -always looking for new ideas. Moving to Vulcan in 2013 and discovering the Art Centre has been such a gift. Being involved with, and learning from other artists, keeps life busy and interesting, Wood seems to be our one basic medium - string art, folk art painting and garden art. Totally a believer in "Repurpose, Reuse" a large part of our work uses recycled material. Another enjoyable medium for me is paper and ink - personalizing journals and greeting cards. The art of Zentangle crosses over from paper to wood. I enjoy making intricate patterns on pictures, furniture, and walking sticks. Other avid interests and hobbies include photography, writing short prose, baking, and gardening I'm loving retirement - it affords time to try it all!
