Laurie Steinbach is a hobbyist potter who discovered the joys of clay 9 years ago at the Moose Jaw Pottery Club. After a couple of workshops on wheel and hand building Laurie began to work on her clay skills at home during the long cold Saskatchewan winters, while working full-time as a teacher and helping on the ranch. Having recently relocated to east of Vulcan, Ab, Laurie has a studio at home where she happily works mostly on making clay some of the things she sees in nature and in her garden. She does a combination of low fire, high fire glass and under glaze and cold process work. Her husband frames her pottery and provides all kinds of other logistical support, such as building the studio and fixing and assembling stuff. Laurie is a family person (mother of two; mother-in-law to one), flower admirer, lover of dogs, cats horses, donkeys and cows and is also an aid gardener. She also loves music and books.
